Complaint Free

Complaint Free

Although it sounds tongue-in-cheek, an organization called “A Complaint Free World” is lobbying Congress to make the day before Thanksgiving “Complaint Free Wednesday.” Their mission is well-intentioned and very much in accordance with our positive attitude here at First30Days:

“Your thoughts create your world and your words indicate your thoughts. When you eliminate complaining from your life you will enjoy happier relationships, better health and greater prosperity. The Complaint Free program helps you set a trap for your own negativity and redirect your mind towards a more positive and rewarding life.”

The organization suggests distinguishing between what can be classified as “complaining” and what is merely informing someone of something, pointing out bad behavior or articulating that something is upsetting. Most of us know when we are, in fact, complaining, criticizing and gossiping, but in order to make changing these behaviors easier, we must be able to identify them and “begin again.”

If you’re interested in furthering this complaint-free cause, hit up the site for more information and instructions as to how to go about contacting your congressman. And stop complaining! :)

Yes, exactly! Complaining is "easy" and doesn't require you to take action. It feels like "enough" just to sigh and complain, but then you end up stopping there and haven't solved anything.

I love this idea. Complaining is such a waste of time. I personally don't like to complain because it only underscores how not in control you are. If you're not happy think about how you can change the situation. If you can't change it, think about how you can make it better, more tolerable. If all else fails you have to walk away. It's like the serenity prayer.
