Do you do self exams?
So you do a breast self exam each month?
That's great advice. Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree that it's better to be safe than sorry. I swore up, down and sideways that I felt something, my doc said no. I went for a second opinion. It turned out to be nothing but I was glad I went through it—not only was I glad to have been proactive, I found another doctor who was more willing to listen to patient concerns and not make me feel silly for wanting to be sure.
Absolutely! And that's how I found a lump that ended up to be breast cancer and I'm only 37. Yes, the majority of lumps in women under 40 are not typically breast cancer, but why take the chance? Luckily, I found mine early enough to be stage 1, but if I hadn't done my exam, who knows what it would have been by the time my next mammogram came around. I'd rather do it and get any lump checked out - even if I did find out it was a cyst. Better to be safe than sorry.
I don't. There's been so much conflicting information on whether they are good or not and that women think they're finding lumps just to find out they have cysts. I just gave up and figured ...i don't have a family history, I'll just wait until my doctor tells me I need to have a mammogram. Is that wrong?
