I want to move to Austin, TX
Mainly because i read that it has a good public transportation. This is important to me since i dont drive(yep, im a healthy adult who doesnt drive lol). SO, where is the best area in Austin to live in terms of accessibility by bus? to work and entertainment.
Right now i live in North Texas area where public transportation doesnt exist and i have family driving me everywhere. I hate it.
I've never lived in Austin but I went to the Austin City Limits music festival a few years ago and I fell in love with the city! Everyone was incredibly friendly and the food was excellent. I caught the bus from the hotel with no problems whatsoever. I can't wait to go back. Here's a little tip though if you ever go the festival. DO NOT WAIT IN THE TAXI LINE! Just walk across the bridge to downtown Austin and catch a bus from there.
South Austin is great-the rent is still pretty affordable and it's being built as an urban area-the HEB (grocery) and other shops are in walking distance.
Another good area is 5th Street, right off the expressway. You've got access to Town Lake, retaurants, bars and coffeehouses in walking distance.

I know nothing about Austin except hearing all good things about it! I live in NYC and can't imagine NOT relying on public transportation after 5 years of doing so. Good to know Austin is an alternative.
