Beware of Brideorexia

While every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, a growing number are taking pre-wedding weight loss to extremes.

So many that there’s even a new term for it—“Brideorexia.”

Charlotte Buckley was one such bride. Determined to fit into her size 10 wedding dress, she dieted and exercised to the point where she was able to walk down the aisle in a size 8. However, Buckley told the British newspaper The Daily Mail that losing the weight became an unhealthy obsession.

“I knew I was pushing myself," she says, "but as each pound slid off it became like a drug, with
compliments on my wedding day being the final reward.”

Unfortunately, Buckley’s obsession with weight didn’t stop on her wedding day and she continued to diet until her concerned parents admitted her into the hospital.

While it’s important to look your best for your big day, it’s also important to be healthy. Enlist the help of a personal trainer or dietician to keep you on track. [Dailymail.co.uk]
