HOW DO I GET CAUGHT UP
IN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE HAD 2 SURGERIES AND WAS ON MEDICAL LEAVE FOR A LONG WHILE, I GOT WAY BEHIND ON BILLS WITH NO MONEY COMING IN. I AM TRYING TO GET CAUGHT UP BUT I ALWAYS HAVE TO TAKE FROM ONE BILL TO PAY ANOTHER. MY CREDIT IS GETTING REALLY BAD. MY BOSS RECENTLY CUT MY HOURS BECAUSE OF THE FINANCIAL SITUATION HERE AT WORK I CAN'T GET A PART TIME JOB BECAUSE ONE OF MY PARENTS IS SICKLY AND MY SPOUSE IS DISABLED SO MY DAYS OFF AND EVENINGS I SPEND CARING FOR THEM. I HAVE PUT ADS IN THE PAPER TO DO OFFICE WORK IN MY HOME BUT SO FAR NO ONE HAS RESPONDED. I HAVE EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT GATHERING POP CANS AND TAKING THEM TO RECYCLE AS YOU GET 5 CENTS A CAN. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME IDEAS ON WHAT I CAN DO AT HOME EVENINGS TO EARN EXTRA MONEY. I WANT MY BILLS CAUGHT UP.
Girl, I've been thru so many levels of financial conditions, Bankruptcy, no food, turned off utilities..you name it. This is going to sound so crazy, especially since you are stuggling, but it is a guaranteed way to find the money you need to help.
I happen to believe in God; some people don't, and that' ok. They may worship other higher powers or don't believe in anyone. Regardless of your beliefs, the way to get what you need, you have to give what you don't have. Let me explain.
The Bible, Life Coaches, and Spiritual publications and weathy people, have one thing in common, they know and have proven, that if you give, what you don't have, you will receive many times more than you need.
How this applies to your situation is....when you get paid or receive your family income to pay the bills etc., Take at least 10% right off the top. Even if you need that money to pay bills, do it anyway. That is giving what you don't have....Do this every week or month, or when ever you receive income. You choose what you do with it...give it to a church, or worship house or do what I do, give it to someone who needs it as much as you. What I do is I give it to an eldery lady that I know and I give it anonomously. I put an envelope in her mailbox with cash in it every month when I get paid. She hasn't a clue where it's coming from. That is the most important part. Give it without expectation of a recognition or anything. Just give it from your heart.
I promise you, you will find out very soon, that you will be taken care of financially. I don't know how it works girl, but it does. All of my grown children do this as well. Jesus said, "Give and you shall receive". And he wasn't kidding. Ha!
Best of luck to you.

We were drowning in debt about 10 years ago ourselves due to medical issues on my end. I was looking for a way to earn some money and went to a seminar to supposedly learn how to run a "gumball machine" business. Instead I heard a lesson on how to redo our budget and expenses. Perhaps it will help you. You divide your pay into 4 categories 70-10-10-10. Your first 10% goes to your church or charity, 10% fun and 10% savings, The remaining 70 % is to pay your bills. I got one of those long wooden trays with slots and when a bill comes in I put it in the slot of he payday which it will be paid.Pay down your highest fee credit cards first. My hubby wasn't sure it would work at first bu tin less than two years I had us pretty much out of debt and money in the bank for emergency's ,vacations and taxes. Occasionally I would have extra money and that would be put on the credit card or other bills that needed to be cut down. If you need ore help or guidance with this let me know and I'd be more than happy to help. I know how rough it can be . I can't work so I know how hard it is to find extra money.
Another thing you might be able to do is to check into getting someone else to come in to care for your husband or parent. I own a home health care agency, and there are several programs available which will send a home health aide or nurse to care for your family member. It sounds like you would fall in the income bracket which would qualify you for free help through the state or federal government. I'm not sure what state you live in, but check with your local Commission on Aging, Area Agency on Aging or similar programs. In Michigan, we have what is called the waiver program which will give a certain number of hours per week free of charge to elderly or disabled people in need. By having someone else to care for your family members, it might give you a few more hours per week that you could work and catch up on some of your bills.
If you have alot of medical bills from your surgery call your local hospital and ask to apply for financial assistance. Most hospital have a program if you fall between a chart of monthly income guidelines you may be able to qualify for free care or at least partial. I work in a medical biling office for a hospital and if you get approved today for free care we write off all your old balances. It certainly would be worth a try.
That's truly a difficult situation—my heart goes out to you, because there are no easy answers.
The first thing you can do is call your creditors and see if there's any help they can give you, such as lowering your payments for a few months or waiving your late fees. They sometimes will work for you, rather than against you—and it can't hurt to ask!
If that's a no-go, try the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. They have good advice on whether a debt-settlement company or credit counselor is a wise choice to help you get back on track.
