"Ever since I subscribed to your site the daily reminders are the only thing I read apart from email and the NY Times headlines and weather. I am hugely critical of most self-help information, but this is not what your site is. I save 1 in 2 of these and have kept a library folder. They are intelligent, concise, relevant and are pitched at exactly the right level." -Martin Chalk, CEO, Balance Water

Out of sight, out of mind..

My problem with saving was that my savings account was at the same bank where my checking account is and when I wanted something, I would just call their automated service and transfer from saving to checking, and there I would go, spending my savings.

What I had to do to stop my spending insanity was open an account at another bank way across town, set up and automatic draft from my checking account where my payroll is deposited, and now, every month, they take an amount off the top and I never see it, never touch it, don't have any idea where their drive thru banks are, I don't even know the account number. It's somewhere written down. The only reminder I have of the money is the quarterly statement. And it's growing fast.

So, if you are a spend-o-holic like "Moi", it's really working for me. Give it a try.

that is a great idea! I have been out of work for the past three months so my savings are shot, but I have just been hired for a new job starting in 3 weeks. I am going to have money taken out of my check into the credit union which does NOT have ATMS or easy access and act like that money isn't there. I can't wait to see how fast it adds up!!
