Actually, this isn't altogether popular way of dealing with debt, but it is effective at changing habits and eliminating debt. There is a group called Debtors Anonymous. This group is a 12 step group based on Alcoholics Anonymous, and will, if worked earnestly, change your life. The basic solution espoused by the group is "do not debt, one day at a time." By following the 12 steps of DA you will have more money and free yourself from the pain and horror of having bills that never seem to end. There is a website called Debtorsanonymous.org which talks of the group, how to find chapters, and the 12 steps changed to deal with debt.
