I can see that you have a real caring heart, just from the few words you shared here. It sounds like your desire to help others has guided you in some way, from being a teacher, to caring for your father, to considering a position in an assisted living home.

One thing you can start with to evaluate your options is to take an inventory of your skills and your passions. Just get out a sheet of paper, and make one list for each area. And be generous with yourself - no second-guessing! Just write what comes into your head. Remember times when you've felt really happy and satisfied with what you were doing, work or otherwise.

Once you have those lists, look them over and see what themes come up, or what you get excited about. That can help to give you some ideas for what kind of a part-time job you might want to pursue next.

It also sounds like it might be helpful to talk with some of the staff at your father's assisted living home, to find out what it's like to work there, and what kinds of jobs might be available in the field. They also will likely have contacts at other facilities they can put you in touch with.
