Question:Is it ever OK to cry at work?

Everyone gets emotional from time to time, and the workplace can be high stress. Do you think it's OK to cry on the job? Do you think it would affect the way co-workers and supervisors see you?

WHY NOT,GET IT OUT AND GO ON.SOME DAYS YOU JUST WAKE UP WANTING TO CRY.COULD BE ANYTHING,DEPRESSION,HORMONES WHATEVER.IF IT HAPPENS IT HAPPENS.YOUR HUMANE.WHO ISN'T.AS LONG AS YOUR NOT CRYING ALL DAY,EVERY DAY.SOMETIMES YOU JUST CAN'T HELP IT.GO AHEAD ,HAVE YOUR CRY,THEN CONTINUE ON IF POSSIBLE.I'VE DONE IT.YOUR CO-WORKERS SEE YOU AS A HUMAN BEING AND IF THEY ARE ANY KIND OF PERSON THEY WILL EITHER RALLY AROUND YOU AND GIVE YOU YOUR SPACE.

Answer:

I think sometimes people just have bad days. If you feel like you are welling up just take yourself out of the office for a minute or two to pull yourself together.

I agree with LMAYO9: If you are crying over something that is work-related, then it is probably not a good idea. People will view you as incapable of handling work criticism or stress.

But if you come to work and are hit with something terrible on a personal level, then it may be hard to avoid shedding a few tears. And in that situation, quite honestly, if people do fault you for being human, then do you want to work with those kind of people anyway?

Answer:

I think it depends on the work environment, and what you're crying about. If someone asks you to take over a project and you start crying right there, that would be a problem. If you have a sick family member and you got some bad news and you cry at your desk, I don't think anyone would fault you for that.
