Ambition Matters
Think about why you are starting college. Do you want to make a difference in this world or do you want to just make money? Recently, Howard Gardner, a prominent professor at Harvard, beganleading “reflection” seminars at the top three colleges. He hopes that his seminars will encourage more Ivy-league students to consider self-fulfilling jobs rather than the quintessential wallet-friendly jobs that are offered to them.
We can’t be mad at Ivy-league students (or any other student for that matter) for wanting to grab the first financially stable job thrown their way. There is a great appeal to jobs that offer security for those who need to pay off their student loans in a timely manner. But is sacrificing your ambitions for money really all worth it?
