Gap Year for U.S. Students?
Just take a moment to imagine if, once you started college, your school and your parents told you to forget classes and instead take the year off to travel the world and make a difference.
If you’re a Princeton University student, you’re probably not dreaming. The school will start a program that encourages up to 10% of the incoming freshman class to take the year off after high school and do some good in another part of the world. You won’t earn credit but you might get financial help. The program should be in place for the 2009-10 school year.
If it goes well, this type of program could be adopted at other universities across the country. [Kansas City Star]
