Survivor Goes HD
You get to lounge on the couch and watch flying baseballs in HD, or brave new voices singing their hearts out on “American Idol.” But how sweet would it be to see people compete in challenges and test their survival skills in remote, yet breathtaking, locations around the world in high-definition?
After running for eight years and 16 seasons (whew—still going strong!) , the 17th season of “Survivor” will be broadcast in high-def. What took so long, when many other shows have already made the switch? Out in the wilderness, the crew needed reliable cameras, and new technology can often experience glitches. But now, the decision to have high-definition “Survivor” also means investing in HD equipment that can hang out of helicopters and be submerged under water.
Almost a year after Mark Burnett, the show’s executive producer, said the HD equipment was too expensive, the times have changed. Now watching “Survivor” can help you escape reality and feel like you’re in another place…even though it is “reality” TV. [Audioholics.com]
