What a Stupid Face You Have
Those spammers are crafty. They exploit the deadly sins and resort to insults in the subject line to get you curious or angry enough to open the email, click the link, or get involved in whatever else they’re pushing. This doesn’t just happen in emails, though. Nope, places like Facebook, Myspace, and other social networking sites can be affected by the hate mail if you don’t set your privacy settings to appropriately block them.
The insult-spam is working enough for the spammers to keep trying. It’s become more personal this way because the subject line usually includes your name, so people who react to the insult simply click in and follow the link. Beware. This is how they get personal information, and your computer could be hit with malware, spyware, and all the other ‘wares currently on the market.
Bottom line: Don’t open the email. No one thinks you have a stupid face!
Have you been a victim to any of these spam emails – either through regular email or while surfing your favorite social network? [NY Times]
