Intel Not Digging Vista
Ouch. According to an Intel insider, there was no case to upgrade to Vista. Could it have anything to do with the fact that Intel customers complain Vista is a “buggy, bloated program that requires costly hardware upgrades to run smoothly?” The Intel source doesn’t really say one way or the other what the specific reasons are, only that there’s no case to upgrade at this time.
This will surely come as a slap in the face for Microsoft as the two companies have worked together for years, even adopting their own "couples’ name" within the industry–Wintel. But Intel is hardly alone in snubbing Vista. Major corporations routinely wait at least a year before adopting the new Window’s version to allow time for the bugs to be worked out. According to analysts, though, there should have been an uptake at 18 months and the interest just isn’t there for Vista.
Give us your thoughts on Vista. Is it a "buggy, bloated" OS that Microsoft is only forcing on us because the sales for it are in the toilet? Should they keep XP around? [NY Times]
I love Vista! I've got a Dell so everything's been peachy keen. :)
