Use Vista Faster
We’ve all been there—you’re late for work and you need to check the traffic alerts for the best route to take, but gosh, turning on the computer takes sooo long. In this month’s issue of Popular Mechanics, Macs beat out the Vista operating system in many categories, including start-up times.
Vista’s “tease” is showing the desktop quickly, a sign that non-technical computer users will interpret as “ready to go.” But trying to access the internet or other programs at this time won’t work—and might even freeze up your computer. There are ways to shorten your waiting time and one is as simple as using your computer. Make sure all programs you used often are completely installed and don’t be afraid to use them. When developing a routine and not having to download and install programs daily, you can experience quicker boot-up time.
Also, try paying close attention when going through program installation. You may have never noticed before, but often there is an option to load the program when Windows starts. Uncheck that box for sweet, easy success…and for software already installed, try checking out program preferences or use the Software Explorer, under Windows Defender, to find a fix.
