Vista Isn't Taking it Anymore!
At the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston, Microsoft said they were drawing the line and would start telling the real story about the Vista platform. Roughly translated and hidden behind very politically correct verbiage, the speech amounted to this: Back off, Apple!
The plan is to beef up their marketing while continuing to iterate the same things they’ve been saying since Vista came out. They’ve got some heavy arsenal in the form of a $300 million ad campaign that promises to be interesting at the very least. Curiously, though, why has it taken so long for Microsoft to proactively defend their product? That alone caused many people to be concerned about Vista’s viability. But, in the end, Microsoft is back on board and their “noisy competitors” won’t have the floor all to themselves anymore.
What do you think caused the sudden change for Microsoft? Do you think this new ad campaign will make much of a difference in what people think about Vista? [ZDNet]
