Cancer Treatment Breakthrough?
The days of losing your hair or feeling intensely ill after a chemotherapy treatment for cancer may be over soon. A former radio and TV engineer may have found the answer to killing cancer cells without traumatic side effects.
John Kanzius has found a way to attach small nanoparticles to cancer cells and use radio waves to burn off the cancer cells without harming normal cells that surround it. This treatment not only eliminates the nasty side effects normally associated with cancer treatment, but in early tests this method has been shown to be 100% effective at killing the malignant cells.
Before we throw a party for Kanzius for finding an outstanding almost-cure for cancer, there is a lot of testing that is needed before it becomes mainstream. The M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is leading the way in researching this new treatment, and the lead researcher believes clinical trials may be as close as three years away. Kanzius is scheduled to be on CBS “60 Minutes” this Sunday to talk about his research and the potential that this new technology holds for the human race.
Maybe one day soon, a health diagnosis of cancer won’t be as feared as it is today. [wired.com]
