Coping with Your Child’s Life Threatening Food Allergies

It can be incredibly scary to learn that your child has life threatening food allergies. But you can cope with this once you make some lifestyle changes. First, be sure to do your research. Find a good pediatric allergist who you feel comfortable with. Next, find out how sensitive your child is to different triggers. If they are allergic to peanuts, will they have a reaction only if they ingest them? What about if someone nearby is eating them in an enclosed area? Lastly, how will you manage your child’s allergic reaction? Be sure to educate yourself so that you can alert other child care providers, teachers, etc. We know you’re scared, but with education and experience you can get through this and keep your child safe.
