Triumph Through Agony
Robin Roberts, the lively co-host on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” is out to prove that a devastating health diagnosis doesn’t mean you can’t keep living your life.
The anchor was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall and has continued to helm the show while she received chemotherapy treatments. She wore a wig throughout her treatment so that viewers wouldn’t be distracted by the fact that she was losing her hair.
Yesterday, she took off her wig and showed the world what her hair looks like after treatment (and a shave!). Roberts explains that her decision to go wigless was about accepting who she was now that she had triumphed over the disease. "I've worn the wig to cling to the past ... but now it's time to accept and embrace who I am now,” she says.
No matter what your health diagnosis is, you will be a different person as a result of your treatment. If you embrace the change like Robin Roberts did, you’re likely to realize that you’re stronger than you thought. [abcnews.com]
