How much do you ask about someone's (serious) health diagnosis?
One of my friends is ill, and although the world of google makes it possible to learn more about almost every disease, how much can you tactfully ask the person about? Do you wait till they offer up info?
I think it depends on the person. A lot of my friends will talk all day long about a condition they are dealing with, but i know some relatives who just mention that they are dealing with something in passing and don't want to talk about it again. Maybe try with a few opening questions (very broad, easy questions...like what treatments your friend might have to endure) and ask if they want any assistance and from there you'll probably get a sense of how open your friend will be.
I think most people will find your concern very thoughtful, so don't be too worried about at least scratching the surface. It's likely that your friend is really yearning to find someone to talk to about the condition.
