Look Both Ways for Summer Fun
When the sunshine hits, more and more people begin to filter outdoors to reap the benefits of warm weather and long summer days. This need to be outside also means an increase in recreational activities, such as beach volleyball and daily dips in the pool. And with more running and playing, another factor also seems soon to follow—injury.
Research show that despite the jump in people’s need for summer fun, winter sports still tend to be the most dangerous, with snowboarding taking the cake and sledding close behind. In fact, if you combine summer favorites like boating, camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming and water-skiing, snowboarding will still come out on top with a higher accident rate.
But don’t go all summer crazy on us—health experts still recommend people use caution when engaging in any type of outdoor activity. Commit to safety, and you can add summer fun to your workout plan. It’s a great way to burn excess calories, get your heart pumping and have a good time!
