Divvy Up Household Chores for a Better Marriage

Sharing household chores is one of the main reasons that new couples fight. In fact, researchers have shown that in relationships where couples equitably share chores, there is lower likelihood of divorce. So short of making a chore chart, how can you motivate your spouse to take on a greater role in the home? First, it might help if you each sit down and pick which chores are least odious to you. If you don’t mind doing laundry, then volunteer for that. While no one likes scrubbing a toilet or doing yard work, take turns to make it fair. Lastly, have realistic expectations and try to avoid being judgmental. If your partner loads the dishwasher, then great! Don’t go behind them and “fix” it if you would have done it differently. Read on at revolutionhealth.com for more important insights into how dealing with this everyday task significantly affects your marriage.
