Question:Married to insecure younger man, he doesn't trust me?

I am 46 yo married to my hubby of 32 yrs. He struggles with his self esteem and admits he is insecure.. I am his first love , his first marriage. My 2nd marriage. He has next to no previous experience with women. On the other hand, I'm 46, have had many life experiences, and am a self assured, confident woman nearing 50! My friends mean the world to me, men and women. My hubby has a hard time accepting the fact I have male friends. Because of his insecurities, he doesn't trust me, and is jealous if I simply communicate in any way with any of my male friends. It's so frustrating. He knows I'm married to him. I'm wearing his ring.. but yet, he finds it extremely difficult to trust me around the male species. Sighs. Can anyone help me?

Answer:

Does your husband spend any time with your male friends? Perhaps his insecurities are rooted in the fact that your friends have a longer history with you and might know you "better" than he does. Sometimes we can't see the way we act with old friends—the inside jokes, playful banter and hugs can be a lot for a new partner to handle. Are you making sure he feels included?

Also...does he have many friends of the same or opposite gender? How does he spend his free time? It's great for both of you to have outside interests...help encourage him to cultivate his, and he'll have less time to be insecure and stressed about yours!
