Try to See It Their Way
It’s a good idea to switch perspectives when trying to improve relationships. Sometimes, seeing a situation from the other person’s point of view will help you to empathize with him or her. Put yourself in their shoes.
If you have a boss who is a tyrant and doesn’t reward good work, there could be many causes. Perhaps she had a father who demanded the same of her. Or she has a sick child at home. Her aggressive behavior may be a wall surrounding a fear of failure.
Make an effort to get to know the other person and see things from his or her perspective. The best way to do this is to ask questions. Listen to what that person is really saying, which could provide subtle communications about your relationship.
You may be surprised by the empathy you'll feel when you get to know another person. For now, focus on the best things the other person offers and assume that many the things you most dislike probably have little to do with you.
