Eggs Are Bad Again?
Eggs are a confusing element of the food chain. One week, scientists say eggs are really good for you and you should include them as part of living a healthier lifestyle, and this week doctors say men who eat more than seven eggs in a week are likely to die sooner. Huh?
The latest study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, claims that middle-aged men could eat up to six eggs a week and not suffer early death, but once they crossed the line and ate that seventh egg, they were 23% more likely to die. And if these men have diabetes and ate any eggs at all, they’re really in for it and are more likely to suffer from a heart attack or a stroke.
Now, don’t go throwing out your eggs just yet. Even the researchers admit that eggs are like any other food—they’re good in moderation. And in the fine print the study also stated that the men who were studied were more likely to drink alcohol, smoke, laze about and carry excess weight...so maybe they shouldn't be so quick to blame it on the egg.
