Is Indoor Tanning Healthy?
You may have already seen the ads on TV or in the paper. The Indoor Tanning Association is out to show that tanning doesn’t automatically lead to skin cancer but can give you that much needed vitamin D and even make you healthier.
A spokesperson from the group says that arguments against indoor tanning rely on “junk science” that don’t prove that tanning beds can lead to melanoma. "Not only is moderate tanning completely safe, more and more it's becoming just what the doctor ordered," the spokesperson said. Doctors say this is incredibly misleading, because there is a proven link between ultraviolet rays from the sun and artificial bulbs and skin cancer.
Can someone live a healthy lifestyle while going to indoor tanning salons in moderate doses? Have these advertisements changed your opinion of indoor tanning, and are you more likely to do it as a result? [ABC News]
