Answer:

Do you drink it for the caffeine, or just like it? If for the caffeine, then I totally understand the difficulty, as I drink coffee every morning and have tried to quit before...worked temporarily but I always missed it. Good luck!

Hello my name is Laurie; I am a former Diet Pepsi drinker. At one point in my life I consumed more diet Pepsi than water. That is until a friend of mine emailed an article on the ill effects of Aspartame on your health. I had Diet Pepsi at lunch, dinner and during my commute which was pretty much all day long. One day I just stopped consuming it and change to water and occasionally drinking a regular soft drink. I do not miss it in the least. Water, water, water.

It's one day at a time for me! Like Victoria, I try to view it as a treat—when I'm at a movie or out and about, I'll have one, but I don't keep it at home.

Don't know how much you're consuming, but maybe just try to back it down day by day. So if you have 3 today, maybe just one tomorrow and see how you do. Then maybe none the next day. As with any habit, it's all about breaking the pattern.

Hi, wallyski1

I was getting into a Coca Cola drinking habit. It was weird how I looked forward to my frosty glass of soda at night. I knew it was a habit I had to break, not only for the calories, but for how bloated it was making me. I decided to quit for Lent and then since I was doing so well, just kept on going.

I do allow myself a coke every now and then, like when I'm having a slice of pizza or at the movies with a bag of popcorn, but it's a treat for me now, not a regular habit. In this way I enjoy it more and I control it.

My reason was Lent, but you can just as easily pick another reason and it does help to have one, but ultimately, you have to do it for yourself and because it's the right thing for your health.
