Dangerous Weight Loss Trend

Most diet fads usually crop up in the Hollywood crowd before the rest of the population catches up. Unfortunately, the newest, yet dangerous weight loss method involves Adderall, a drug typically used to treat patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A new report alleges that young starlets are using the drug to lose weight fast, even going as far as crushing and snorting the drug.

Whatever you may read about this weight loss method, it is not healthy and not safe. What these starlets don’t know is that misusing Adderall can lead to liver problems, allergic reactions or serious heart problems. For many people, that is too high of a price to pay to be skinny.

We’ve said it before: the only proven, healthy weight loss method requires taking in less calories than your body burns. The only safe and healthy way to do that includes eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise. If you need a refresher, check out our feature article on losing weight. [ABC News]
