The thing is everytime I work out the next day and sometimes the day after I am to sore to do it again.
When I work out I am too sore the next day and sometimes even the day after. For instance Tuesday I ran for 20 mins on the treadmill 3 mins run 1 min walk off and on for 20 mins. Wednesday I was very sore, legs tight,abs...Thursday I feel better. So how am I supposed to do a workout everyday if thats the way it is? Is it because I am so out of shape, or am I over doing it? What do you suggest?
You also need to remember to work different parts of your body on alternate days! So if you do a rough cardio workout on Monday, make sure you get in some weights/strength training for your arms and back and abs on Tuesday, then go back to legs/cardio on Wednesday...you can also try swimming or yoga/pilates to stretch out those muscles and change it up a bit. Good for you for getting into a routine. And Elizfisher is right...take it slow, one day at a time.
I once got great advice from a trainer. He said, "Work out today for tomorrow"> Meaning, work out enough today so that you want to do it again tomorrow. we have a tendency to do too much in the beginning, trying to make up for all our past sins. But the truth is this is a life long habit we are trying to develop, not just a sometimes burst. If you are too sore, ease up a little bit on your workouts. Maybe start by walking rather than running. Or cut back on the time. Even if you start with 10 minutes a day and work up slowly to longer workouts, you are still developing a healthy habit. good luck!
That's happened to me too, but I find the more I workout the less sore I become. Remember, your body isn't used to it so the more your body can acclimate that type of excercising the easier it becomes. That's why many times people end up having to take their workout to the next level (when their body is ready of course) because the body has become so accustomed to the "regular" exercise routine that it needs something a bit more intense to burn more calories.
