Question:Can high blood pressure be controlled with strict lifestyle and diet changes alone if you have a family history of hypertension?

I have a bad family history of HT (both parents, 3 grandparents, several uncles & aunts) and lipid disorders(father). Many deaths under age 55 due to MI. I was diagnosed with HT at age 46 despite healthy lifestyle and diet. Now also diganosed with high cholesterol and grade 2 arthritis. Is there any hope for me to become medication free with even stricter lifestyle changes and VasoGuard nutrition supplementation? I despair when I look at my mother - still alive, but crippled by the side-effects of the cocktail of HT meds she has been taking for more than 20 years. I am very motivated. Currently taking perindopril 4mg/day. BP not well controlled.
