Nintendo Wants You to Quit Smoking
Sure, “Grand Theft Auto IV” may be all the rage these days (and almost as addictive as smoking), but can it give you life-long health benefits? Many could argue that point, but one video game aims to make quitting smoking fun.
The smoking cessation game, which is made by Nintendo DS and will be available this November, is based on the "Alan Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking" method. It's the only method that is able to claim that more than 50% of its clients have been able to quit for good. To learn more about it, read our interview with Damain O'Hara, the president of Alan Carr North America.
The game gets players to enter their personal smoking history, tobacco habits and select a personal coach to guide them through the process of quitting smoking. Fifteen “mini-games” help demolish the false beliefs of nicotine addiction. Even after players have successfully quit smoking, they can track their progress by using the "Path to Freedom" meter.
