So for those who want to quit drinking, quitting smoking will likely increase their chances of staying sober, according to a new report in the Harvard Mental Health Letter.
However, many experts worry about the stress of trying to quit two addictions at once. The concern is that quitting smoking will undermine your chances of quitting drinking, or vice versa. So the next question to answer is whether it’s better to give both vices up at the same time or separately. In the meantime, experts remind those struggling with alcohol and nicotine addiction that there’s no one “right way” to quit. Try a variety of approaches until you find what works best for you.
