YOU: On a Smoking Diet

In the past, you may have told yourself that quitting smoking is so difficult that you could only kick the habit if you had top-notch medical guidance from the most famous doctors in the world. Thinking this would never happen, you continued to go on your way.

Now, Mehmet Oz, M.D. and Michael Roizen, M.D., the authors behind the best-selling book YOU: On a Diet, are teaming up with ABC’s “Good Morning America” to help smokers quit once and for all.

The doctors have created a four-step plan to help you quit smoking, and they’re easier than you may think:

  1. Define what type of smoker you are.
  2. Prepare to quit smoking one month before you actually do.
  3. Quit smoking, with the aid of nicotine replacement therapy such as nicotine gum or patches.
  4. Continue to live the rest of your life smoke-free.

Sounds too easy to work, right? There is more to it, including getting support, increasing your exercise frequency and possibly employing the help of anti-anxiety medication—but it will work if you stick to it. To prove that it works, GMA will be following three smokers as they use Oz and Roizen’s plan to quit smoking for good.

If you’ve always wanted that expert advice for 1/100th of the cost, here’s your chance to quit smoking the right way. [abcnews.com]
