Beat Winter Blues with These Foods ....

carolineshannon

Sure, the icky snow and chilly wind can leave you feeling, well, a little under the weather ... literally.

But according to the new issue of SELF (January 2009), there are a few foods you can munch on that will actually boost your mood, including:

*Fish: The Omega-3s in these fishy friends are known for their ability to fight depression. SELF says to eat low-mercury fish, like wild salmon, twice a week.

*Spinach: Popeye got something right by munching on this leafy green. Apparently, too little folate can leave you feeling blue. Chomp on spinach to up your intake.

*Baked Potatoes: Increased vitamin B in your diet bumps up feel-good signals in your brain, and a medium potato (with the skin) contains nearly half of your daily B6. Try sweet potatoes for a yummy, but healthy, treat!
