Research shows that three weeks of getting enough sleep will wipe out your sleep debt. Enough sleep means a minimum of 8 1/2 hours, and for some people it can be more than 9 hours.

I have a sleep disorder and about 2 months ago started sleeping more normally (was sleeping less than 3 hours per night). I started feeling more alert and generally better after only a few weeks of sleeping 7 hour per night. I am trying to increase to 8 or 9 hours per night.
