Meditation on the Slopes
When Michael Symonds learned how to snowboard a few years back, he ended up learning a lot more than the basic moves. Out there on the slopes, he found himself reflecting on life and contemplating a lot of personal issues of his; all of this contemplation would eventually prompt him to write his new book, Zen Shredding.
Symonds is someone who meditates and is also a teacher at the Chopra Centre. Contrary to the name of the book, he neither “shreds” on the slope nor practices Zen, but the dichotomy was intentional. Symonds believes that these opposites can come together and make for an amazing experience. His target audience? “It’s for anybody who feels they are going through some kind of change or they want to create change in their life,” he says.
