Move Over PC, I'm a Mac

Tackling topics from security, exchanging gifts and pointing fingers at Vista, over 30 “I’m a Mac” commercials featuring actor Justin Long make Mac users laugh—and maybe get a chuckle out of the occasional PC owner, as well. No matter what the PC can do, Mac always has a quirky comeback that wins in the end.

And with beating PCs as a goal, the commercials in general might be doing just that—as Microsoft’s rankings of most powerful companies plummets downward. Once found at the very top of the chart in 1996, it slumped to #12 in 2004. And the recent release of last year’s results shows Microsoft landing in at 59, in the CoreBrand Power 100 study. And it could be true—even though Apple hasn’t graced the top 100, it did jump up from #132 in 2006 to 118 last year.

The not-so-popular change to Vista was also mentioned as part of the problem, but these ads may also be heavily to blame…only showing the negative against the ultra-positive Mac alternative. But hey, isn’t that what advertising is for? [Info World]
