White Will Vanish for a Greener Apple
Classic is going out of style. For MacBooks, that is. As a part of Apple’s going green trend (the newest iMacs and the MacBook Air made of aluminum), the sleek white and black plastic MacBooks may disappear.
According to AppleInsider, Apple’s industrial design cycle is about 18 to 24 months. And since there have not been any major MacBook changes since 2006, a makeover is in dire need. New designs could incorporate more “eco-friendly” components, such as “aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel.” The MacBook Pro is already made with aluminum, but all new laptops may have trimming of similar materials, but not nearly as “green” as the MacBook Air.
Those living a green lifestyle without a Mac and with, say, a PC running a Vista operating system might want to make the big switch if these predictions prove to be true. How important is it to you that your electronics are made from materials that are better for the environment? [AppleInsider]
