Question:How do you keep up with exercise routine in the winter?

I love biking in good weather, and I don't belong to a gym. Now that fall and winter are around the corner, how can I keep it up? Should I look into very warm biking gear, or try to do something in my home? I can't afford gym membership or anything too outlandish (or that takes up a lot of space!)

Also, I use my bike as transportation, so I'm going to take my bike to a repair shop to have them winterize it. Then i'm going to invest in some good warm layers, a face mask and some gloves and ride during the winter. My friend did it last winter and he told me that because you are exercising, you don't usually get too cold. Just make sure your skin is covered to prevent chapping/windburn/etc.

Can I just tout the wonderfulness of exercise tv? I know they also have a website, but i get exercise tv on the free spot of my video on demand. I have comcast now, but i had insight before. They both have it. It's great because i can sample all sorts of different work outs and try new things. If you happen to have video on demand, just check out the free spot and look for exercise tv. If you don't have it, then checkout exercise tv online. I think it's exercisetv.tv, but google it. It should come up.

If you love biking, invest in an indoor bike trainer. They are wonderful! You basically put your back tire on the machine (it's pretty small) and secure yourself in. It turns your outdoor bike into a stationary bike. If you have a bike shop near you that you find trustworthy, they will for sure know how to assist you in finding the best trainer for your needs. I love mine and use it all winter long!

I checked out my local Parks & Rec.'s Dept. OR High school pool. I joined a Deep water aerobics class and am enjoying it very much. I live in the very wet, damp & grey NW from Oct - June. so this is a great way to stay in shape. and inexpensive usually. good luck. :)

I was just thinking as I was walking up four flights of stairs, that you could probably get a good work out if you live in an apartment building going up and down the stairs and don't forget hauling laundry!

Trampoline sounds fun! Yeah, I was thinking a work-out video, but I'm not familiar with many, so maybe I should do some research. Weights I need as well. I like the idea of "multi-tasking," exercising while watching TV or listening to a podcast, etc. which I don't do during biking.
