"I was actually waiting for your book to come out at Barnes and Noble, and reserved it two weeks before it came out. I told my therapist about it and your web site and how you made a positive impact on me." -M

Question:How do you keep up with exercise routine in the winter?

I love biking in good weather, and I don't belong to a gym. Now that fall and winter are around the corner, how can I keep it up? Should I look into very warm biking gear, or try to do something in my home? I can't afford gym membership or anything too outlandish (or that takes up a lot of space!)

Answer:

A great way is to invest in a video you really like. It doesn't take much room and you can do everything from kickboxing to yoga in your living room.. even in your PJs if you want! You'll also be surprised how affordable membership to your local YMCA can be. Whatever you choose try to find something that feels new and exciting. You won't start if it doesn't make you excited to try. Good luck!:-)

I have to admit I'm pretty bad at this—it's hard to get motivated when it's cold out, even with a gym membership! Warm biking gear is essential. You can also get some small free weights to work on muscle tone at home, or some pilates and yoga videos to keep you strong and centered.

Have you tried a small trampoline? Rebounding is great exercise and so good for circulation, etc. Plus, it's fun!
